YANIBO

Yanibo' is the wife of 'Ijapa'{tortoise} the idealistic metaphorical character of medieval Yoruba folk tale, cunny, conniving, selfish, and evil as her infamous husband. In my music 'Yanibo' is the beautiful and seductive land lady who falls head over heels in love with a married man. A man who refuses to betray his wedding vows to his wife, his moral role to his children, and his pious duty to his God.

Lyrics:
Was a stranger on my way
When it started-rain
Pretty woman offered me
A place to rest
It was such a type of night
When danger loomed
She was my angel-true
Oh she was so beautiful
As she was kind
And a widow she was
And how I wondered
How life could be so cruel
So cruel but I know

Yanibo Yanibo
Iyawo nbe nile
Omo nbe nile
I can never love you
Iyawo nbe nile
Omo nbe nile
Ife nbe nile
Yanibo

In the middle of the night
She crept up to my side- padipadi
In the night when it was dark
She touched me with her heart
But I didn't like it
So I didn't touch her
And she didn't like it
Cus it felt so cruel
And she started to cry
Oh but I know

Yanibo Yanibo
Iyawo nbe nile
Omo nbe nile
I can never love you
Iyawo nbe nile
Omo nbe nile
Ife nbe nile
Yanibo

You look at me like I'm cruel
But I'm not an ordinary man
I fear the Lord
I have a wife and a son
I'm gonna do what's right
Though it seems so hard
So hard baby

Yanibo Yanibo
Iyawo nbe nile
Omo nbe nile
I can never love you
Iyawo nbe nile
Omo nbe nile
Ife nbe nile
Yanibo

Kai I say kai
Mi o se mio se ma ko bami
I could have loved you baby

But Iyawo nbe nile
Omo nbe nile
Ife nbe nile Yanibo
